Healthy Hair at Home
Each and every one of us is guilty of indulging a long trip to the hair salon at least once a week. Amber Lights has found, though, that stepping into your regular hair salon, is walking straight into your mane’s worst nightmare. All the chemicals, and heat are sure to damage your tresses. Even if you are going in for a treatment, you never really know what you’re putting in your hair, and how it will affect your crowning glory in the long run.
Luckily there are now brands that offer natural hair dye alternatives, and herbal salons that offer natural hair treatments.
But why go out of your way to a hairdresser or a department store to pick up a pricey box of tint? When you can enjoy the benefits of a few simple ingredients, and get beautiful healthy hair in the comfort of your own home.
Lets start by lighting a few candles in the bathroom, or spritzing a bit of room spray to enhance your space (Amber Lights recommends these scents in Green Tea and Lemongrass) to make your experience more than just getting the frizz out of your hair, but making it a time to replenish yourself. Now decide what you would like to have done, and then lets create a personal cocktail for your hair.
Protein Shake for Moisture
This treatment is also good for those who have chopped a few inches off their locks and need some help to kickstart a long mane or treat split ends, just combine two eggs and two tablespoons of honey. Eggs are packed with protein which nourishes your hair and the honey seals in all the nutrients.
Apple Cider for Volume and Curl
Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, and 2 teaspoons of baking soda, into 2 tablespoons of baby shampoo. Apple cider vinegar clarifies your cuticles and the baking soda boosts this effect, to help make your hair weightless and curly. The shampoo is just to keep your hair from turning into a 3rd grade science experiment.
Indian Coffee for Color
Open a pack of henna and add 2 tablespoons of vinegar and a cup of brewed coffee. The coffee will enhance your color while the vinegar gives it staying power.
Work your chosen treatment into your roots all the way to tips of your follicles and let it sit for 45 minutes or least 15 if you are pressed for time. Shampoo and condition as usual and save your hair from breakage by towel drying your now luscious locks before using a wide tooth comb to detangle.
Finally finish your home salon treatment by leaving your hair to air-dry in your favorite chair with a hot drink, and a book, or remote in hand. Now that you have set up your very own organic salon you can easily have beautiful hair the natural way.
