5 Kidney Cleansing Drinks
Cleansing the Kidneys without taking meds
Most cleansing routine don’t require an exhaustive supply of tools or ingredients to work. In fact, just drinking plenty of purified water is the first step toward an effective flush. Water, however, it only provides hydration. We have some kidney-cleansing drinks that may provide that extra cleansing boost.
1. Cranberry Juice
Cranberry juice is very effective at preventing UTIs. Cranberries contain antibacterial compounds known as tannins. Tannins prevent bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder and the kidney. It decreases the adhesion of bacteria to the bladder and urethra. Cranberries may also be helpful for cleansing the kidneys of excess calcium oxalate, one of the main contributors to kidney stones. A glass of Cranberry juice per day will gradually cleanse your kidneys
2. Beet Juice
Beets and beet juice contain betaine, a very beneficial phytochemical. It has antioxidant qualities and increases the acidity of urine. This can help clear calcium phosphate and struvite buildup from the kidneys. The removal of calcium in the kidneys not only promotes kidney function, but decreases the likelihood of kidney stones.
3. Lemon Juice
Naturally acidic, lemon juice has been shown to increase citrate levels in urine, a factor that discourages kidney stones from forming. For a quick lemon kidney cleanse, make lemon water by squeezing 4-5 lemons into a 500ml cold water and drink up. Lemon Tea for a warming beverage, squeeze half a lemon into 8 ounces of hot water daily.
4. Juice Cleanses
Juice cleanses are all the rage, and with good reason. A juice cleanse combines the nutritional power of fruits and vegetables into one, easy-to-drink beverage. All loaded with antioxidants and nutrients necessary for the removal of toxins. This helps take the strain off the liver, colon, and kidneys. Vegetables like cucumber, celery, zucchini, lettuce, carrots, kale, and spinach are great for juicing. For fruits, try apples, banana, peeled oranges, pineapple and papaya.
5. Watermelon Flush
Due to its Flavonoid, Carotenoid and Lycopene content, watermelon is one of natures most effective anti-inflammatory foods. It is about 91% water by weight, which means that it’s an awesome treat during hot weather or after a workout. It also helps your body to flush the bacteria in the kidneys, to remove very small stones. It is also an amazing source of potassium, which is a mineral salt that can help to dissolve kidney stones allowing the residue to be passed.
It is crucial that you always keep your kidneys healthy. A cleanse may be helpful for removing accumulated toxins, but it doesn’t necessarily stop them from accumulating again. Consuming a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables, mono unsaturated fat, and lean protein can be helpful for keeping the whole body in check. When you choose to do a cleanse, make sure to include juices and broths to maintain health throughout the process. And lastly, before beginning a cleanse, consult with your health nutritionist or your doctor to ensure your health can support this activity.
